The Kingdom of Fife and neighbouring Kinross-shire, Perthshire, Central Scotland, Angus, Grampian and the Highlands are all within motoring distance from Edenshead Stables Bed & Breakfast. Each area has many fine Castles, Stately Homes & National Trust Properties.  There are lovely gardens, parks and a wonderful coastline with award winning beaches and rugged headlands .

CYCLING :

A great base for cycling

For the many enthusiastic cyclists there are 300 miles of designated cycle routes in Fife & Kinross-shire, including Mountain Biking and all are well signposted and challenging.

WALKING:

There is great variety for walkers of all abilities. Pitmedden and Tentsmuir forests or on the popular Fife Coastal Path which is over 80 miles between the Forth & Tay Bridges – For those who prefer hill walking there are the nearby Lomond Hills , Bishops Hill and the Ochil Hills

 

GOLF:

There are in excess of 40 Golf Courses within Fife – all within an hour’s motoring from Edenshead Stables B&B.

St Andrews – Home of Golf has 8 golf courses and there are many championship links courses in Fife as well as many challenging inland 9 and 18 hole courses to suit all pockets and all abilities. Nearest golf courses to Edenshead Stables  are – Ladybank, Elmwood & Glenrothes + Two courses at Kinross. Three 9 hole courses at Milnathort, Cupar and Falkland.

Other sporting pursuits in Fife & Kinross-shire include Gliding at nearby Portmoak, Horse Riding, loch & river fishing & water sports in the sea & inland lochs. Knockhill Motor Racing at Knockhill offers challenge & excitement. Bird watching -RSPB Vane Farm Nature reserve by Loch Leven, Kinross

Dunfermline – once the capital of Scotland with its C12th Palace & Abbey; St Andrews & Stirling Castles. Nearby Balvaird Castle – www.historic-scotland.gov.uk
Scone Palace in Perth & Glamis Castle & Blair Castle in Perthshire all have beautiful grounds to explore. Well worth a visit are the Raptor & Scottish Deer Centre,
by Cupar, Deep Sea World the National Aquarium
and The Fisheries Museum at Anstruther.

There are many lovely Gardens to enjoy – Drummond Castle Gardens, Botanic Gardens in St Andrews & Dundee, Cambo Gardens at Kingbarns is open every day – known for its Snowdrops in Jan/Feb.

The historic university town of St Andrews is a must to explore – best on foot. See the Cathedral and Castle, sandy beaches and Golf Museum and much more. Visit the quaint East Neuk fishing villages with their harbours, wynds, little museums and art galleries.

A tour of one of Scotland’s most important industries is well worth a visit – Nearest Whisky Distilleries are at Crieff, Pitlochry or Aberfeldy…

Edradour is the smallest distillery in Scotland established in 1825

Glenturret Distillery- THE FAMOUS GROUSE is the oldest distillery in Scotland established in 1775.

Both can be easily reached from Edenshead Stables.

EDINBURGH

No visit to Scotland would be complete without a visit to Scotland’s capital which takes an hour by bus from Kinross or from the Park & Ride at Ferry Toll (just north of the Forth Bridge) to central Edinburgh. Enjoy exploring on foot! – The Castle & Royal Mile, The Palace of Holyrood House. The Royal Yacht Britannia, Art Galleries, Gardens, the Grass Market & the splendid Museum of Scotland. Climb the Scott Monument or stroll in the Princes Street Gardens. There’s something for everyone on your days  out!
